Support Email 6

As I was drafting this documentation on Oct 26, 2022, I received the following email from Voro Motors support:

Hello Kythera,

Thank you for your response.

We submitted a paid order for a M12 x 1.5 through our system. If you receive an order confirmation email, please do not be alarmed by it - this order is prepaid and your card will not be charged. We do this in order to update tracking numbers and for you to keep track of the shipping status.

Moreover, please apply loctite on the axel thread and use a tool such as a wrench to tighten your cap nut as it is the best way to reinsure you that the cap nut will loosen up and fall off.

We hope this helps. Feel free to let me know if you require any further assistance.

Order #50193B

Current status: Awaiting order #50193B for M12 x 1.5 Cap Nut for EMOVE Touring × 1

Thread Checker Fact Finding

I received the thread checker on Oct 27, 2022. This led to two primary discoveries:

  1. According to the thread checker, the rear axle of my EMOVE Touring is actually M12-1.25.

  2. The cap nuts that Voro Motors has been sending me, while labeled M12-1.75 in the schematic in their parts catalog, are actually M12-1.5.

    1. Screw catalog listing: https://www.voromotors.com/products/nut-12mm-19mm-cap-silver

    2. Schematic screencap recorded on Oct 28, 2022:

Conclusions:

  1. I incorrectly identified the size of the axle bolt and temporary nut I’ve been using.

    • I don’t know if this is because the package was mislabeled or I misread the package, and I can’t check because the package was thrown away.

  2. The M12 cap nut on the Voro Motors website has the size incorrectly labeled.

    • Even if it had been correctly labeled, M12-1.5 cap nuts still wouldn't fit the rear axle.

These findings alone didn’t satisfy my need for accurate information. In order to really determine what the accurate measurements for the rear axle and all of the cap nuts in play, I needed to take a scientific approach to this. To view a detailed breakdown of my methodology and the steps taken, see https://anevern.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PORTFOLIO/pages/1876033569.

The results of the methodical testing confirmed that the rear axle is in fact M12-1.25 and the M12 cap nuts Voro Motors has been sending me are actually M12-1.5 despite being labeled M12-1.75 on their website.

I recorded and posted a video of the actual live testing on TikTok: M12 thread checker test

Support Email 7

On the heels of the methodical testing results, I sent the following to Voro Motors support on Oct 28, 2022:

Hello!

I am sending this follow-up in the interest of information-sharing. No action required at this time.

I received my thread checker set and was able to verify several facts:

  1. The M12 nut in the Voro Motors screw catalog (https://www.voromotors.com/products/nut-12mm-19mm-cap-silver ) is incorrectly labeled M12-1.75. The nuts with this SKU that I have been sent are actually M12-1.5 according to my thread checker.

  2. The rear axle on my EMOVE Touring is actually M12-1.25, according to the thread checker.

    • I don't know if this means the temporary nut I've been using was incorrectly labeled or I misread it, because I no longer have the package to verify.

    • Even though I incorrectly identified the size of the rear axle, the rear axle and SKU nut-12mm-19mm-cap-silver still do not match.

  3. Whether I was sent M12-1.75 or M12-1.5 nuts, neither would have fit the M12-1.25 axle.

  4. Everybody has been working with incorrect information in one way or another.

I've attached a photo that shows one of the M12 nuts I received from Voro Motors as measured by the thread checker, and the rear axle of my Touring with the corresponding thread checker measurement.

Order #50193B is still en route. I'll check the size of the included nut when it arrives.

Thank you all for your continued patience and assistance with this. I know it has been a frustrating and stressful saga.
